Rice app

power to cook asian food

The pandemic brought about a chance for us all to welcome change. We became more conscious of our food preferences, particularly when it came to Asian cuisine. However, a lot of people struggled to replicate restaurant dishes or social media-inspired meals in their own homes. This inspired me to develop RICE - an Asian Cooking app that caters to everyone.

COMPETITOR RESEARCH

My first step was to conduct a competitive analysis of three brands that I either discovered or had previously used. I see that the apps I came across focused on solving the problem of shopping for ingredients, suggesting dishes based on preferences, and offering guidance based on available ingredients. However, it seems like these solutions aren't tailored to my particular problem.

IDEATION & BRAINSTORMING

I found it easy to generate "How Might We" questions and solutions seemed to emerge naturally.
As I gathered insights throughout the process, the light bulb for the idea of a video subscription app really started in my head.

COMPETITOR RESEARCH

I crafted visual user stories to aid in the design process, with a sharp focus on consumer expectations and concerns. I want to see how the products look and hear user feedback. I also want to know which features I should include.

SITE MAPS

The identification and mapping of key features for the application were crucial, and a sitemap was employed to guarantee that all information, features, functions, and screens were appropriately organized and aligned.

USER FLOWS

Following the creation of the sitemap, I formulated three essential "red routes," which held significant importance for the application because users would frequently depend on these pathways to solve problems. User flows offered valuable insights into how users could efficiently complete their intended tasks with minimal obstacles, ultimately ensuring a seamless learning experience for cooking Asian cuisine.
